Jacqui Hurwitz
Founder & PrincipalBefore founding Patina Design Studio, Jacqui Hurwitz spent over a decade working across complex hospitality, retail, commercial and luxury residential projects throughout Australia, London, Miami and Toronto. Her background designing high-performance commercial and hospitality environments, alongside ultra-high-end private residences, instils a rigorous, process-driven discipline into residential projects. This ensures that spatial layouts, custom joinery, and material selections are not just visually resolved, but highly functional and capable of supporting daily routines.
Throughout her career, Jacqui developed a strong belief that successful homes are shaped long before finishes, furnishings or styling are considered. The studio is often most valuable when engaged early, either prior to property purchase or at the very commencement of a renovation or new build. This early involvement allows the studio to collaborate closely with builders, engineers, certifiers, and architects, acting as a dedicated design manager. By focusing on spatial planning, layout efficiency, and interior detailing from the outset, we help resolve structural and layout conflicts on paper before construction begins, saving time and preventing costly revisions on site.
Today, that philosophy continues to guide the studio's work. We serve clients who value spatial intelligence, clear communication, and considered execution over transient trends. We intentionally limit our project intake each year to ensure every home receives our rigorous, personal involvement from initial concept through to final hand-over.
